Terry Benedict produced the initial documentary on the Desmond Doss story on how he earned his Medal of Honor as a conscientious objector medic during the battle of Okinawa in WWII.
When his company was driven off Hacksaw Ridge with only 32 survivors, Desmond remained behind to find, drag and carry 75 wounded men off the battlefield to the cliff edge where he winched them down 200 feet one by one.
In the second half of the show he gives us an insider’s look at Mel Gibson’s Emmy nominated Hacksaw Ridge production that was ten years in the making.
